The NO Project
I’ve had the idea for this project sitting in the back of my mind for well over a year but I struggled with finding the 'right' time to release it. The reality is there is no right time to be discussing rape and sexual assault because it shouldn't be something anyone has to experience in their life. Unfortunately the statistics speak for themselves and with 1 in 5 women being subject to sexual assault in their lifetime. In light of the recent #metoo and #timesup movements I feel like we’re shifting to a place where women are encouraged to speak out about sexual assault, and more likely to be believed when they do. When I was a teenager I was raped and I spent many years pretending it never happened.
Organisations such as Rape Crisis aim to educate others to prevent rape and sexual abuse and provide specialist support services to survivors of rape and sexual abuse and those who support them, in a way that is feminist, informed, sustainable and holistic.
100% of the profits from the sales of these limited edition prints will be donated to Rape Crisis Wellington.
